I used to dread “evangelism” so much that I felt sick to my stomach if I heard anyone mention that word. Processing this with the Lord, I realized my definition of evangelism was “Someone who doesn’t want to talk telling someone who doesn’t want to listen something that neither of them want to talk about because one or the other or both of them will go to hell if they don’t.” No wonder I didn’t like it! He began to show me a new vision of sharing Jesus that was loving and beautiful and more like… well, Jesus. Until finally I wrote this song about it.
I would sing ten thousand love songs at your window
In the name of my Lord;
I’d paint you pictures every color of the rainbow
For the sake of my Lord
I’d leave flowers at your door
Tell you He can love you more
What your heart is yearning for
Is my Lord
I’d point out for you to see
He’s carved your name upon His tree;
You are loved by my Lord,
And I just want to win your heart for my Lord.
I’d tell you stories every evening by the fire
In the name of my Lord,
And hope His beauty would arouse your desire
For the sake of my Lord
I’d leave flowers at your door
Tell you He can love you more
What your heart is yearning for
Is my Lord
I’d point out for you to see
He’s carved your name upon His tree;
You are loved by my Lord,
And I just want to win your heart for my Lord.
