Let’s sing for God!
Let’s sing to Him, for Him, and about Him!
Let’s write Him another song that’s never been sung before
And let’s do that again, and again, and again
Because He is worthy. He deserves it. He’s our theme and our anthem.
Everybody join in! Let’s make a choir as big as the planet,
Everybody jump on board.
This world was made for this
This planet was made to praise its Maker
–how many of us have ever done what we were born to do?
Come join the God-song! You were made for this too!
Sing and affirm everything that God is
Expound on what it means when we say His name
He blessed us once and called us ‘very good’
–Let’s sing that back to Him!
Let’s talk about God
In every culture and language of the earth
Let’s bring Him up in all the coffee shops in the world
Let’s share our God stories, and share each others’ God stories
Let the God songs and the God stories fill our days
Because He’s really big, really good, really nice
He’s God the Great, God the Best, God the Worth it All.
It’s impossible to exaggerate His praises
No matter how many songs we write
The Reality fills and surpasses them all
God is to be taken seriously, more seriously
Than every God-substitute and God-variation and God-counterfeit
We’ve ever brainstormed on our own
None of them is so fearful as the Real Thing
Every people-made god of every people God made
Is a worthless fake, not worth 0.01 cents on eBay.
The Real God designed the sky.
The real God is splendid
The real God is majestic
The real God is strong
The real God is beautiful
The real God makes the places He fills holy
The real God makes His holy places strong and beautiful like Himself
The real God makes His strong and beautiful holy places inside of us
So every person in every family in every nation,
Give honor where honor is due
Trace the fruit back to the Root, go searching for the Source,
Figure this out and say: This came from God!
The revelation will change your life.
Stop giving the credit for what God has done to anyone or anything else
And come bring all you are and all you have
And give it to God in a great big ‘Thank You! You’re awesome!’
It’s called worship. It’s what you were born to do.
He’s holy. Splendiferously holy. Worship Him like that.
Let your palms get sweaty, all the palms on earth.
Let your knees knock, all the knees in the world.
Let the knots tie in your stomach and the butterflies take off inside your rib cage
About God,
All the stomachs and rib cages He ever made.
Let the goosebumps rise on your arms and the hair stand up on the back of your neck
And shivers go down your spine and your hands start shaking
All the arms and necks and spines and hands there are.
This is awe.
Tell all the countries on the map,
“The I AM is King!”
He made the world and He hasn’t lost track of it,
He’s coming to set all things right.
Let the sky get happy
And the earth smile
Let the sea cheer
And the grass agree, along with every bug and mouse in it
And let all the trees do their happy dance
For the coming of God
The coming of God to set up court in creation
And make all things fair and true and right once more.
God’s character is righteous
God’s character is faithful
And that will make all the difference in the world.
