Waiting is a Dance of Love

I journaled (in my Spirit Life Circle small group),

Lord, what do You want to say to me about timing?

and this is what I received:

“My darling, do not be afraid. My timing is LOVING. I AM always, always, always doing what is BEST for you. Any timing could be best for ME. I do not need to grow, mature, develop, heal, or change. I AM the same yesterday, today, and forever. I can do any thing at any time. I can move fast or slow and neither is easier or more difficult for Me. There are no considerations within Myself upon which to base a preference for a different timing. I am utterly, completely, and totally indifferent to time. I made it for YOU.

You are the ones who need more or less time. You are the ones with the (currently) limited lifespan, who need Me to accomplish My purposes with you on the earth before your time on earth is done. You are the ones who look so temporal to Me that I compare you to grass that the wind blows away and its place remembers it no more (Psalm 103:15-16).

And you are also the ones who need more time before you are ready for things. I AM always ready for anything. I have never not been ready. But you need time to grow, to change, to heal, to repent, to mature, to gain experience and to learn from your experiences. So all My limiting factors about both moving too fast and too slow are for you. So every decision I make about timing is always, always, always made with consideration for your best interests, made for the love of you. Even if you don’t understand it, any decision I make about timing is My love-gift to you, tied up with a bow.

Sometimes the consideration is for others and the timing they need, as when I told My people, “the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete” (Genesis 15:16 ESV) Other times it is for all of you, as when I said, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance”! (2 Peter 3:9 NIV) But always, always, always My timing is best for you.

I have no selfish wishes to counterbalance doing what is best for you. If I AM asking you to wait, it is not because I AM selfishly wanting to finish my football game and beer in the den and not be bothered by My children. If I AM asking you to speed up, it is not because I AM getting bored and impatient with walking at a child’s speed. I AM never out of strength and I AM never out of patience. I AM never asking you to wait for Me because I am tired and never asking you to hurry because I am bored and impatient with waiting for you.

Waiting is a dance of love. We alternate, you waiting for Me and Me waiting for you. We both do a lot of waiting for each other, because “Love is patient” is the first thing I listed about love (1 Corinthians 13:4a). And God is love (1 John 4:8b) and God is patient. I AM love and I AM patient, so I LOVE waiting for you when you need More Time! I don’t resent it, I enjoy it. I relish waiting for you with all My loving heart, My precious one, how precious you are to Me!

And as for you waiting for Me, you know My promises about that–how you will mount up on eagles’ wings and not get tired (Isaiah 40:31), how the Lord works for those who wait for Him (Isaiah 64:4)! Keep waiting for Me as I AM waiting for you to heal and grow and be ready, for I AM working, I promise.”
